Taklamakan adventure trekking tour in Xinjiang China |
The Taklimakan Desert, the world's second largest shifting desert, located in northwest
China Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Desert is the most mysterious, one of the most attractive desert in the world. Desert Centre is a typical continental climate, strong wind, temperature, rainfall throughout the year less. Frequent sandstorms activities here, Fully 85 percent of the total area consists of mobile, crescent-shaped sand dunes that may reach a height of 100 to 200 meters.
It covers an area of 270,000 km2 of the Tarim Basin, 1,000 kilometres long and 400 kilometres wide. Taklimakan Desert, the arid desert of warm, summer maximum temperature of 67.2 Celsius degree, day and night temperature of 40 Celsius degree above the average annual precipitation is not more than 100 millimeters. |
Day 01: Kashgar Commence our itinerary in legendry city of Kashgar, China's most historic tourist destination along the Silk Road. Transfer to Hotel
Day 02: Kashgar
City tour in Kashgar including visit to Sunday Market, Apakh Khoja mausoleum, old towns and small lanes of Kashgar, Eidkah mosque and its handcraft section. |
Day 03: Kashgar to Khotan Drive along the oasis towns of Silk Road to Khotan, enroute visit royal cemetery of Yarkand Saed Kingdom, Amannisakhan tomb and Altun mosque.

Day 04: Khotan Sightseeing in Khotan including silk weaving craftsmanship and carpet workshop, wandering around jade bazaar along the Yorungkash River, afternoon visit to paper making family and do rest of shopping for trek.

Day 05: Khotan to Taklamakan desert via Keriya by 4x4
Drive along the national road to Keriya, lunch in local restaurant, further drive into TaklamakanDesert. Overnight in tent.
Day 06: Derya Boyi village (Daheyan)
Further drive to north along the Keriya river to Derya Boyi village. Overnight in tent. |
Day 07: Derya Boyi to Camp 1 Wandering around small village of Derya Boyi, packing our luggage on camels to follow caravans to next camping point.
Day 08~10: trekking to Mazartagh
Trekking with camel caravans in the Taklamakan Deseert, arrive Mazartagh on last day, overnight in tent.

Day 11: Mazartagh to Khotan Drive back to Khotan by four wheel drive, afternoon own arrangements.
Day 12: Khotan to Urumqi by air
Breakfast at hotel, drive to airport to take flight to Urumqi, afternoon visit to ethnographic museum of Xinjiang, where 3800 years old mummies exhibited and excavated from Taklemakan Desert.

Day 13: Urumqi to Turpan Drive to Turpan, visit JiaoheAncientCity, Karez underground irrigation system and Emin Minaret Day 14: Turpan drive back to Urumqi Visit to Astana graveyard, Gaochang Ruins, Tuyuk village and Bezaklik thousand Buddha Grottoes along the flaming mountain, drive back to Urumqi for overnight. |
Day 15: Urumqi depart Drive to airport to take flight to Beijing
